Peace rototom set
Originally developed in the 1970s by al payson and michael colgrass, the rototom have spread in very different contexts, from progressive rock to experimental and orchestral music. Unlike most percussion instruments, the rototoms are instruments with variable tuning height that allow glissate effects. They are generally used as an extension kit for the normal battery, or in percussion sections, also orchestral, together or as a substitute for the 20. In the teaching of percussion they are a valid substitute for the most cumbersome and expensive gables.
